Mote’s Ocean Fest

2022

Youth Making Ripples joined forces with ocean-minded organizations to educate locals and tourists alike on the importance of our local ecosystems and the role we all play in preserving these ecosystems for not only our generation, but for future generations.  Find out more here.

Planet Roo Sustainability

2016 – Current

The Youth Making Ripples team of scientists bring the ocean blue to Planet Roo each year hosting a live ocean themed gameshow, several science nerd cafes in the academy, and an ocean conservation booth. Find out more here.

Student Film Festival

2017 ~ 2020

The Mote Marine Lab has played host to our annual Student Film Festival since 2017. Join us for an evening to showcase winners of the competition and recognize youth who are making a difference in their community.

4ocean Beach Cleanup

July 2019

Join us on July 20 at the 4ocean & Air Canada beach cleanup at Mandalay Park Beach in Clearwater, FL.  The Youth Making Ripples team will be in the 4ocean Village looking to engage cleanup participants throughout the event about our annual marine conservation and sustainability film competition for K-12 students.

Greater Everglades Ecosystem Restoration Conference

April 2019

Join us on April 24 as one of our co-founders, Dr. Lauren Toth, host a Plenary Session on the Power of Youth in science and conservation.session at the GEER conference, featuring presentations by three past award winners who will show their incredible short videos and share some remarks about their interest in the topic.

Shark Tagging Expeditions

2014 ~ 2018

The Youth Making Ripples team has hosted a shark tagging expedition with the Angari Foundation with some of our past winning filmmakers.

National Marine Science Educator Annual Conference

June 2017

The YMR team will travel to Charleston, S.C. to participate in the annual NMEA meeting. We will be hosting a film making workshop for professional and informal educators, presenting our scientific research, participating in the Youth Summit, and hosting an interactive film and art festival with Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Program
